Cabbage Tree Cottage B&B
Linda and Mike’s home includes a separate living space comprising bedroom, bathroom and separate toilet. As a foodie and an artist with a love of good humour, chocolate and wine (roughly in that order) Linda and Mike enjoy sharing the comfort of their home with guests.
Whether you need a little nurturing or just want some peace and quiet, our B&B is a warm, safe place to stop for a comfortable overnight rest and most suitable for a relaxed rural retreat weekend.
Drape yourself over a comfortable piece of furniture by the fire in cooler weather and enjoy tasty treats or take a stroll to see which bird-calls you can identify. Warm winter afternoons provide a chance to doze in the sun on a couch on the deck with a good book (and we have WiFi if you must). Summer opens up more outdoor possibilities from relaxing near the pool to undertaking one of several walk options, including the challenging walk to Mt Wilson for 360 degree views or a stroll along the nearby beach of the Conway Flat or the free Peninsula Walkway in Kaikoura (45 minutes drive north)
Cabbage Tree Cottage B&B is shared with two West Highland terriers referred to as “the wee white antidepressants”, so if you’re distressed by dog hair and the type of occasional chaos life with these three comedians brings this isn’t an ideal place. Of course we’re pet friendly but please be sure to read our “pooch policy” if you’d like to consider that option.

Tariff: $145 per couple per night. $95 for one person.
Extras: Fruit or vegetable smoothies or juice made from 6 to 9 fruits and vegetables is available and if you’re a regular vegetable juice drinker then we’ll be game to offer you a hearty glassful for $5 (generally around morning tea time).
Lunch from $15 per person as either a tasty packed lunch or soup and a selection of comfort foods if it’s an indoors sort of day.
Evening Meals by arrangement range from a pizza or a ready-made pre-packed Pitango risotto, soup or pasta at around $10, to a 3 course event including Marlborough Sounds Regal saltwater farmed salmon with ginger and mustard glaze, a selection of roast vegetables & rainbow salad followed by Almond Peachy Pie plated up with sorbet & icecream or yogurt, sprinkled with roasted ground almond and coconut & drizzled with a little syrup and liqueur (all for only $60 per person). In the cooler months bread and butter pudding is added as an option. If you can manage more, there are always a few small but rich (and fair trade) chocolate offerings to accompany coffee, tea or hot chocolate (the hot chocolate is a small meal in itself, with or without chilli and cream). And we’re just as happy for our B&B guests to bring ingredients to cook up in our kitchen.
